This is a unique quilt my mother has been making for me! Each block features a different design she has tatted. Instead of a sample book you have a sample quilt. My mother is very talent in making just about anything she sets her mind to! I have shared tatted collars in the past this is one of my favorites! This found a home in my personal collection. I do not know who tatted it are when. I just loved it and bought it!
I love this shuttle! It needs a little tender loving care (polishing that is). The maker of this shuttle is Codding Bros. & Heilborn of North Attleboro, Massachusetts. They made shuttles from 1879- 1918. I do not know any history of the owner. It was purchased from a church sale. It amazes me that this shuttle could be over 100 years old! I am sure that it was a very special gift that someone treasured. This is bobbin lace, not tatting. While on a trip many years ago, I purchased this bobbin lace runner. I did not know what type of lace it was at the time, I just fell in love with it. The bobbin lace pattern and thread was recently purchased, I was told it is very old and came from Germany. I belonged to a tatting club taught by Sadie Allison of Lufkin, Texas one of her members did bobbin lace. I did not care for bobbin lace at the time. I was learning to tat. I wish I would have taken the time to learn the art of bobbin lace. Here are pictures of other peoples shuttles I find unique. |
