While searching for tatting shuttles, I met this wonderful lady who gave me this vintage lace. This is NOT TATTING. She called it " pull tie" and dated it from late 1800's to 1940's. She stated that it started as one piece of material and was pulled into a pattern and tied. This was something I had never heard of. I find myself looking more closely at lace in general. I cannot look at lace and tell what kind it is unless it is tatting. If you have any information on "pull tie" I would love to hear from you. Always learning and inquiring.

my Mother and Grandmother called it "drawn thread" work. You pulled out selected threads and then stitched through it to make patterns. Mom used to do it on pillowcase edging. Hard to find cotton fabric that will do this these days, for some reason the threads always break before you get them pulled all the way out.
