The Love in Our Family Flows Strong and Deep Leaving Us Tatting Memories to Treasure and Keep
Susie Landrum Shirley Stubblefield Sheila Jones Sadie Allison
My grandmother was an avid tatter. She tatted many items such as the beaded tatting on my wedding dress and veil, large table cloths, baby shoes, blankets and more for her great-grandkids, as well as doilies and table runners. My mother, also an avid tatter, recieved pin from Tatters Across Time . After my grandmother passed, I too began tatting even though I tat a little differently from my mom and grandmother. While they tat "reago" style, I tat "traditional" style. June 10th 2000 "Lace Days" in Lufkin, Texas displayed our 3 generational tatting projects which included my wedding dress.
I owe my love to tatting to my mom, grandmother, and Sadie Allison who had the patience to teach me the love of tatting.
While working as nurse one day I entered a patient's room saw Sadie Allison tatting in the corner. I was flooded with memories of childhood and past. I relalized how much I missed my grandmother and then I wanted to learn. I know somewhere in Heaven she is smiling upon her daughter's and grandaughters rekindled passion for the "lost art!" I hope that my love for tatting continues to be passed down as cherished family heirlooms and memories etched in the hearts of my children. I have made memories with my boys on family vacations stopping and looking for tatting shuttles. I have memories of my son yelling "Bingo" meaning he had found a tatting shuttle. Never the less I could not make a deal everyone miles way heard him. I have memories of my son explaining what a tatting shuttle is to some antique dealer who never heard of a tatting shuttle.

I made the tatted bonnet for Finley. Hopefully one day she will use the bonnet on her Wedding Day, a unique gift to be passed down as "something old" made by her "BeBe".
Finley in the tatted baby blanket made by her great-great grandmother Susie Landrum. I don't believe my grandmother knew what kind of legacy and impact she had on my life! Thankful our kids and grandkids have memories to treasure and keep.
Finley has a little bit of her Maw - Maw to cuddle with. She is the first Grandchild that my mother did not get to hold. I have often wondered what she would think about Jasons and Caitlyn's daughter.
I had a lady make this bear out of my Mother's Pajamas. I thought it would make a very special gift to have a little piece of Maw - Maw to snuggle with.
Actually, this picture has her great-great Grandmother's tatted blanket and her great- Grandmother's bear made out of her clothing.
Mother always said that Jason was going to have twin girls! She even made two identical baby quilts long before Jason was even married! I think she is smiling down from Heaven at this little angel!

Finley, Maw-Maw made these because she knew your Daddy was going to have a girl! She made them with lots of love for you, I wish she could have seen you in them. The love in our family flows strong and deep leaving us tatted memories to treasure and keep!
